Travel Diaries - Hong Kong

We were invited to take part in The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Jockey Club School of Global Leadership Leaders 2 Leaders 2018 Summit in July. Our CEO, Gavin, and Partnership and Impact Manager, Anne, traveled to Hong Kong for five days of exciting workshops and events. The summit strives to nurture and train high-quality youth leaders from around the globe, providing comprehensive, systematic, and professional leadership training. The end goal is for participants to explore their leadership potential, enrich their personal knowledge and experience, as well as foster a sense of responsibility for their future contribution to society.

Gavin was invited to give a keynote speech along with four other global leaders. We were honoured to speak alongside Chebat Lessen, Founder Bright Green Renewable Energy (Kenya), Anny Chang, Co-Founder and CEO International City Wanderer Education Association (Taiwan),  Karen Carvajalino, Co-Founder and COO the Biz Nation (Colombia) and Tafan Ako Taha, Founder EmpowHERment (Sweden). We encourage you to check out each of these incredible women running impactful businesses around the globe.

While in Hong Kong, Anne led two cooking demonstrations using the Lucky Iron Fish with Michelin-star chef Charles Cheung, gave a session on raising impact funds and mentored high school students taking part in a hack-a-thon for smarter cities. The five days culminated with interviewing talented candidates to take part in a month-long overseas apprenticeship in November. We are excited to welcome a new member to the team for the month of November...more details soon to come!

The cooking demonstration with a professional chef was definitely a highlight of the trip. We were able to make a new dish and engage with students and community members. We plan on making the soup back at the office for all of our staff!
