Our pillars of impact

Sustainability

We take a holistic approach to our work, understanding that what we do impacts both people and the planet. We work to form long term relationships with organizations so that we can provide ongoing support and donations when needed. In order to ensure our products reach those who need them most, we work directly with community organizations to provide units and training materials tailored to the local communities.

From an environmental perspective, we look at our entire supply chain. Our manufacturing partner upholds strict social and environmental standards and has been certified “Business Sustainability with Bronze Recognition” by EcoVadis. In addition our packaging is recyclable and FSC Certified. We actively work to advocate for responsible production throughout our supply chain.

Nutrition education

The Lucky Iron Impact Fund is used to provide communities and organizations with free units of the Lucky Iron Fish and Leaf. Along with providing units, we work directly with organizations and community members to provide custom training materials and resources to help address iron deficiency in their communities.

Health equity

In good health, we can be the best versions of ourselves. Recent data from the Lancet Global Health shows that micronutrient deficiencies (like iron deficiency) are on the rise, with an estimated 56% of school aged children and 69% of non-pregnant women deficient of at least one micronutrient. Iron remains the most pervasive deficiency, disproportionately impacting children and those who menstruate.

Children under 5 require iron for cognitive development. Lack of iron can impede their development and already puts them at a disadvantage when it comes to their future earning potential.

For women, iron deficiency is an underlying factor in 40% of maternal deaths, both directly and indirectly. In low & middle income countries, a woman who is iron deficient can earn up to 20% less than a woman who is not.

Lucky Iron Life works to address gaps in existing systems by providing a sustainable and effective solution to address iron deficiency. Our clinical trials have shown compliance rates >80% and an increase in iron status and a decrease in iron deficiency anemia.

This company meets the highest standards of social and environmental impact.

Lucky Iron Life has proudly been a Certified B Corporation since 2015. It is our mission to improve global health and well-being using socially conscious business practices.

In 2022, we implemented an internal BCorp committee which is working to actively improve our social impact across all aspects of our organization. This includes committing to map all of our stakeholders to ensure they are included in our decision making, especially as it relates to our impact, and to tracking and calculating our greenhouse gas emissions.

Making our innovation accessible to communities in need is a core value to our business
