Gender Equality Week - Mobilizing Women Around the Globe With the Lucky Iron Fish

  • 1 min read

Today marks the start of Canada's first ever Gender Equality Week -- an opportunity for Canadians to celebrate the progress we've made in advancing gender equality in Canada, while reflecting on the work that remains to make sure that everyone can reach their full potential.

In this same effort, Canada is hosting the Women Deliver 2019 Conference in June, 2019 – the world’s largest conference on gender equality and the health, rights, and wellbeing of girls and women in the 21st century.

As iron deficiency anemia impacts mostly women, we are proud to join fellow mobilizers of the conference, who, together, are helping to amplify the voices of other like-minded organizations and individuals to improve Canadian leadership on gender equality and drive progress for girls globally and domestically.

We believe that improving the iron status of women will improve their lives, and benefit the entire global economy. And we also know that solutions for iron deficiency anemia need to be comprehensive in order to make an impact. That’s why we partner with reputable groups that approach women’s health with holistic programming and training that includes power dynamics, gender-based violence, reproductive rights, socio-economic empowerment, informal sex trade and overall health, which includes iron deficiency anemia.

Keep watching this space and the hashtags #EveryoneBenefits and #WeDeliver2019 as we will be sharing more stories about the organizations we work with to improve the health of women around the world.
